What Are Your (realistic) Dream Cars?

No, I don't mean LaFerarris or McLaren P1's. I am talking about something that's maybe $70k or $80k TOPS, that you could definitely see yourself owning in the future.

For me it's either the 5th-gen GT500 or the 6th-gen GT350 Mustangs.

The cars that I want to own aren't cars so much as build ideas.

A realistic dream car for me has to be the Focus ST diesel. Not too expensive to buy, quick, very cheap to run, spacious enough for my needs with an estate available if necessary. Works for me overall.

Oh, I've got a whole laundry list. For starters, I'd like to do an FD RX-7 track car with a 2.0L BOLT Hayabusa engine and a Hewland Engineering sequential transmission. Heretical, I know, but who wouldn't want a RX-7 with a V8 that produces 400+ HP at 13,000 RPM with a 14,000 RPM redline? Next is a Bullitt replica using a Dynacorn replica body and all 5th gen Mustang mechanical components, including the 5.0L Coyote, TR-6060, and 8.8 inch rear end with Willwoods all around. For a more practical vehicle, I'd like a Ford F-100 from the '60s underpinned with a modern Ranger chassis, a 3.7L Cyclone, and a 6R80 transmission. And for the grocery getter, I'd have an AMC Hornet wagon from the late '70s with a AMC 360 V8 block and an Edelbrock top end with a Pro-Flo 2 EFI and a Gear Vendors overdrive. A grocery getter has to have fuel efficiency, after all.

In the UK, good ones of these are around US$22-24k. That's affordable for a lot of people now.

BUT. It's appreciating in price too, because heritage and pedigree etc. By the time I'm old enough to be able to own one, the price might just leap out of reach...

I'm planning to do electrical engineering in college, so i could be easily making 70 grand once I get a job, and more if I work up. so I would have to say a slightly used 911 carrara, early C7 (I still have 5 years after this year before I'm out of college, so there will be some depreciated models by that point) CTS-V wagon, or shelby cobra replica.

$70k to $80k tops isn't fair, some of us might expect to be able to afford more.

I'd like to buy a new corvette someday. Ideally a high performance variant.

Of course, I don't know what I'll want new when I have that kind of money. Used I'd like a C7Z06 and a C6ZR1. Depending on what happens with ZR1 values that might not be as far off as you'd think
